Lost: Crash Cover-up

At the risk of getting into all kinds of trouble with Niki for going yet another day without posting Dylan's 11 month blog I am going to quickly cover some thoughts around Lost last night.
As usual about this time in the season (doesn't take me long) I start to get frustrated with the writers of Lost. They are not shy at all about adding new story lines and characters when they still have a billion unanswered questions to address.
Four new characters?? Dang, its gonna take me all weekend just to sort them out and figure out their purpose and how they might fit into the master plan of the show. They threw us a curve ball too with that ghost buster dude, Miles. What a freak he was! That little CarVac thing was neat though. I totally need one of those for Dylan's bedroom someday so I can suck the ghosts out of her closet.
There is some speculation out on the Lost forums that kind of make sense (for once). Some people have speculated that the Dharma peeps created some kind of time machine that they tried out back in the 70's. Flight 815 was the 2nd attempt and the plane crash was swept under the rug to make it all happen. Ben and his crew are the closest ones to figuring out about the time machine and how it all works so this is why the new characters are out to get him. The new character from last week (Abanddon) seems to be heading up this group.
Makes some sense I guess. It could answer why the Dharma necklace was found buried with the polar bear in the desert. Also it might be why no one can give birth on the island, because it would tamper with the time-space continuum if life was created by someone who was from another time period. The Oceanic 6 seem to be keeping a secret in their flash-forwards and there is also some regret around leaving the island all together. It also would explain why they have fancy iPhones on an island that call people in under a second. Its like Nextel on crack!
I was frustrated with the episode until near the very end when Ben said that he had put someone on their boat. That rocked! I was pretty amazed to hear all the information he had on the supposed rescue unit and I can't wait to see how it all plays out. Of course that probably won't be until next year sometime when the writers all have jobs again.
I am sure I left a lot of stuff out that happened last night. I will probably watch it again this weekend to recap but I am interested in what anyone else has to add or thought about the show. Have a great weekend! |
